World Food Day is a day observed on the 16th of october every year to commemorate the founding of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 1945 in Quebec, Canada.

World Food Day is celebrated every year with different themes to focus on areas that require action and offer a common objective. This year the World Food Day 2020 theme is “Grow, nourish. Sustain. Together. Our actions are our future”.

World Food day aims to educate people across the globe about the existing problem of worldwide hunger and the right to safe hygienic and nutritious food which is a basic necessity for all humans.
There are people all over the world who are suffering from hunger. Starvation is a massive problem in several countries and we need to do more to raise awareness and fight this problem.

The Anneozeng Ogozi Aid Foundation celebrated World Food Day by visiting Durumi IDP camp. We understand that there is alot of startvation and hunger in IDPs camps particularly amongst children and this also brings about malnutrition. Research has shown that Nigeria has the second highest burden of stunded children in the world ,with a national prevalance rate of 32 percent of children under five. An estimated 2 million children in Nigeria suffer from acute malnutrition (SAM) but only 2 out of every 10 affected is currently reached with treatment so we decided to provide them with food
