The world honors all humanitarian workers for their extraordinary sacrifices and selfless service to humanity and this year they are referred to as “The Real-Life Heroes”. World Humanitarian day is held every year on the 19th of August to pay tribute to aid workers who risk their lives in humanitarian service and to rally support for people affected by this crisis worldwide, Amid a global pandemic in the year 2020, unprecedented needs and growing insecurity, aid workers and health-care responders are staying in the frontline and caring for the world’s most vulnerable people.

The Anneozeng Ogozi Aid Foundation (AOAF) was not left out as we took part in celebrating World Humanitarian Day by visiting Facado orphanage home, New Karu, Nasarawa state on the 19th of August 2020, the team was led by the founder Amb. Anneozeng Ogozi Peters. We arrived at the orphanage to the warm welcome of the founder of Facado orphanage home, Mrs. Ngozi Anih George, the caregivers and all the children.

The kids were sanitized and all wore their face masks along with the AOAF team, there was a teaching session for the kids led by Miss Patience Chidawa, where the kids were taught on sexual education tagged “My Body My Own” and also on Personal hygiene, the kids responded positively to these teachings and asked question too, which was answered by the AOAF team.

After the teachings the Kids had a song presentation for the AOAF team, Amb. Anneozeng Ogozi Peters presented the support materials (Educational materials, Foodstuffs and toiletries) to the orphanage, which was received by Mrs. Ngozi Anih George (Founder, Facado orphanage Home) and she expressed her immense gratitude to AOAF for reaching out to them, the Kids were thankful too as they all had a great time with us.

Our visit to the orphanage portrays the fact that we live in a society where continuous positive impact must be made in the lives of the less privileged and vulnerable people around us, and we must show them care and love as this will make them feel important and encourage them that they too can achieve their dreams and become better people in the society.
